On Monday, the Steamers suffered a 0-3 loss to the Boston Brewers and let their season record sink down to 9-9-2. The team is still in the playoff hunt with only four games left to play. At least we didn’t give up four goals in the third period. That’s a nice change…

Steamers win despite trying to give it away in the thirdPosted by: Brent in Game Updates
Some might argue that the breakaways in the third might have been a little more common than usual. I might be one of those people. Some might also argue that it could have been worse, had I not, at least for this last game, started coming out to tackle some guys before getting schooled. Ken called it “aggressive.” That’s a good word for it. I call it “having a headache driving home.”
In other news, while writing this article, I googled the terms “hockey collapse” to try and find some appropriate graphics to stuff in the post and found this image of smokin’ hot Dutch field hockey player Ellen Hoog. So I figured I’d stuff her in the post too. Enjoy. Tags: Badenovs, Botches, Ellen Hoog, girls, goalie, hot foreign chicks, Regular Season, sexy, sillies, Win
In other news, a few more games have been added to the schedule, so get your tickets now. Tags: Botches, Brewers, goalie, Regular Season, WinIn a game whose highlights included two different kinds of beer and Eric deliberately shooting pucks at referees, disaster was averted as the Steamers beat the Beachbums 4-2. Emergency management officials were alerted after Russ scored his second goal of the night in the second period. Scientists have demonstrated over the past few years that if Russ pulls off a hat trick, the Earth would plunge into the Sun. Tags: apocalypse, Beachbums, beer, Regular Season, Win
I posted a quick update to the stats to reflect knocking off the Rampage on Monday night 3-1 in our first playoff game of the summer season. For once, we actually had a full bench, and we skated very well. We are now in the Frozen Four, and play the Milford Fire on Monday night.

What a crappy way to end the regular season. We had a very short bench. I played like crap. The rest of the guys played like crap. We looked crappy.
The only good thing was that it was a meaningless game against a team that we’d already knocked out of playoff contention. I just don’t get it. Like so many other teams in this league, the Rampage seem to skate a bunch of guys who have Napoleon complexes swinging their sticks around like they are ice skating in Braveheart. But hey – guess which team is NOT playing next week… Tags: Loss, Rampage, woeful
According to our captain, with our tie on Monday we earned ourselves at least 4th place in the division and a spot in the playoffs. Not too bad after having a short bench all season.
Monday night saw us play the Golden Seals, and we ended up skating to a 1-1 tie. A pretty good game all around. The first two periods we spent a lot of time down on their end of the ice, which is always fine by my account. Then, typical of our performance all season, we slowed down a whole lot in the third period and managed to stave off a few different scoring chances. One more game to go in the regular season. Would be nice to end on a winning note. A few notes:
